BIOGRAPHY & ARTISTIC APPROACH Passionate about drawing since childhood, Mirabelle began to paint in watercolours in 2003. This favourite medium has given rise to a series of free figurative works: 'bodies in motion', with an implied eroticism, but always with great modesty. I was missing something that I couldn't really identify at the time: relief, texture, a certain freedom of movement. So Mirabelle quickly freed herself from this highly codified technique to work in a more informal field where gesture and material predominate. It didn't take long for the artist to find her own way and give her painting a new direction. The fruit of this quest is an artistic approach that is as thoughtful as it is spontaneous, a letting go that leads her to lyrical abstraction. My approach is constantly evolving, and it's not so much the finished work that's important, but the path that leads me there, the research, the creative process. ‘I create by building, destroying and rebuilding. I have a very physical relationship with the ‘act of painting’: sweeping movements, spraying, dripping, splashing, washing with water, impasto and burning... Experimentation and working with textures are at the heart of my creative approach. I try to represent, through my body and my energies, the affirmation of a real presence in the world. I draw my inspiration from the textures, shapes and colours of the world around me, seeking to capture the very essence of natural vitality. My work is an exploration of that which eludes us, a celebration of the complexity of life and our place in the universe. The beauty of landscapes, the fragility of ecosystems and the wonders of the cosmos are intertwined in a perpetual movement of construction and deconstruction. It is this cycle, at once precarious and unchanging, that is reflected in every brushstroke, every fragment of collage and every sculpture, all testimonies to the fragile harmony that governs our ecosystem. This artistic approach is not limited to the simple representation of ‘beauty’. It implies a reflection on our collective responsibility towards the planet and a meditation on our quest for understanding in the face of ‘a great whole of all that exists’. The artist collaborates extensively with artists from all walks of life: painters, visual artists, writers, etc. She has also designed the covers of two books by writer and journalist Marc D'Angelo: Gamètes and Jamais atteinte .
