Cricket and loofah flowers. -------------------- About the artist: Peiming Lu (陆培明, b. 1947) is a Chinese Painting artist living in Taicang, Jiangsu, China. He was born right after the World War II in the then extremely destructed China. Peiming grew up in a poor village and only finished elementary school because his family couldn’t afford his education any further. He then started learning Chinese Painting by himself. He loved observing varieties of plants in the countryside, and he would focus on practicing even in the hottest summers, despite the mosquito bites on his legs and the sweat trickling down his back. Peiming is known for painting peonies. People call him the “Lu Peony”. The composition of his paintings seeks balance from both symmetry and asymmetry of positioning, integrates pointed and slanted use of brushes, and brings out great energy from bright colors. Although most of his paintings are in freehand style (写意), he sometimes combines line-drawing (白描) or Gongbi (工笔) techniques innovatively, creating a layer of simplicity or complexity as needed. Peiming’s style is appreciated for its poetic elegance and the folktale-like straightforwardness. -------------------- Note: Chinese paintings are done on Xuan paper (a type of rice paper), which is known for being soft and fine textured, and thus are prone to damages by bugs and humidity. In order to protect paintings from such damages, a special process called “裱画 (Biao Hua)” is needed. Paintings will be backed by silk or damask, which will be chosen by veteran Biao Hua workers to best suit the painting. Only premium quality silk and damask (produced in Suzhou or Hangzhou) will be used to back the paintings for best protection and presentation. Paintings properly treated by the “Biao Hua” process will have a surrounding edge of the backing material. The width of the edge depends on the size of the painting (Typically 8-20 cm / 3-8 in). We advise you to not look for a frame until you received the painting. Dimensions listed on the website are dimensions of the painting only. The process can take up to 10 days. Buyers should fully consider before purchase. -------------------- IMPORTANT: Please contact aileenlu09@hotmail.com to double check availability before you purchase on the website. Thank you.
