I am a Dutch painter, living and working in Naarden, the Netherlands. I have been painting on and off for more than 30 years. I have no formal art training, I do as I please. I work in oils mainly, but also add natural elements, like grass, twigs, sand, seawead. Before I became a full time artist I persued a succesful career in business. This has brought me around the world. I bring this experience along in my practice. It has shaped my vision on the world. I paint what existential landscapes. I am intrigued by the vastness of the universe, both in space and in time. I am acutely aware that we are only temporary spectators in the arena of nature, defined as everything that surrounds us. And we occupy just a tiny speck. My works are a reflection on nature’s enduring power and humanity’s fleeting presence within it. This presence might well be a lot shorter that we are aware of or whish to believe. As such they can also seen as a protest against what we do to our surroundings. By painting I feel I can connect with the vastness of nature and express my concern. And make the viewer reflect on our impermance.
