"Cupid's Call" is a representation of a twisted love. Cupid is a cyclop holding a match that has been recently put out. The reason may be Cupid's flight or the stream coming out from the female portrait's mouth. The face is painted black symbolizing grief in the Western tradition. It is put in contrast with a dreamy cenote-like vegetation in the background, meaning that the love may have been idyllic in the past.
