ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Not for sale because of Solo exhibition in Gallery Platon in Poland till end of November PAINTING EXHIBITION | 26.10.2024 Opening: 26.10.2024 (Saturday), Platon Art Gallery, ul. Krupnicza 13 They burst onto the canvas with massive streaks of paint, provocatively flexing their bright muscles and bending their plastic bodies. Formed from fragments of sentences, remains of overheard sounds, shreds of memories and clippings of pop culture. Built from the effervescent tissue of the artist's emotions, they were named "People of Paint" by his brush. "People of Paint" is a cross-sectional exhibition of Rafał Chojnowski's paintings, which is a synthesis of his work to date. The exhibition will present paintings from various painting cycles and stages of creative work that shaped the artist's characteristic style. The violence of gestures, energetic, almost brutal application of paint and free movement of the brush have been tamed on large-format canvases, which are connected by a common thread - man as a plastic form, entangled in instincts and emotional tensions. Rafał Chojnowski is an artist dynamic in his painting expression, perceptive and unhampered by intense colors. As he himself says - "In every painting there is always some beginning, some story taken from somewhere". His works are fragments of reality, motifs taken from pop culture and elements of the collective subconscious and social moods. Chojnowski plays with the codes of mass culture, transforming them into elements of expressive compositions.... this is one of the paintings from the new series: "everything you want to see but are afraid to open your eyes" In these new paintings, erotic elements are combined with violence, fight and love. To paraphrase Leonard Cohen: these are paintings about "the war between the rich and the poor, between men and women"....
