Before entering the water, you have a range of possibilities. There may be a shark nearby, or there may not be one. These possibilities exist simultaneously. Until that observation occurs, you exist in a state of uncertainty, where both possibilities coexist. In darkness there is no observation. A shark in the presence of darkness may exist with no external influence or assumptions. A shark in the light becomes exposed, even if there is no change in behaviour from darkness into the light, the moment it becomes visible it evokes emotion, a pessimistic response. The simplicity in texture and backgrounds creates the idea of slow movement and a tranquil presence, this artwork represents a moment of purely just existing.
