About The Artwork

The inspiration for this painting was the recent volitility in the stock market. The graph in Day Trading reflects the highs and lows in one day of a single stock. It occurred to me that a segment of day traders viewed this like gaming (per some news reports) until it went badly and they had lost real money...not Monoply money. The painting sides are finished and it is signed on the right side. Hanging materials are included.

About Robert Carroll “My paintings reflect stylistic shifts as I explore different subjects in six (6) series- Permutations, Fractured, Skiffs, Laying Pipe, Explorations and Market Mechanisms. My Fractured series explores the re-imagining of some of my previous works as new striking paintings. I alter the colors, line, and the form in recomposing the original image. Progressively, I introduce more representational elements and a bolder use of color to the series. The Laying Pipe series represents an intention of creating “happy” paintings using a palette of pastels.  The creative spark for the series is based on the seemingly non-stop activity of doing construction at the side of the road.  They are always laying pipe, trimming trees, and re-paving bike trails on our lush barrier island.  The resulting paintings intersperse simplified foliage with pipe and other shapes. Market Mechanisms features mixed media and collage.  Thematically, the artworks explore supply and demand in the face of the worldwide pandemic.  Many of the works have found objects affixed. Explorations  is a chance to examine different ideas.  Some of these become series and some may be just a few paintings on the same theme.  For example A Good Day featuring a convertible at the beach is an idea to which I will return. Although there are many artists I admire, Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, James Rosenquist and David Salle most directly influence my work.”  ---Robert Carroll Rob Carroll studied art at the College of Coastal Georgia and has participated in numerous workshops. His work was sold in Atlanta, GA by an interior designer and is found in private collections and businesses from Florida to Maine. Rob’s largest selling series are Skiffs and Fractured. His work has been in group exhibits at the Glynn County Library, Glynn Visual Arts and Southeast Georgia Hospital. Rob had a solo show Going Coastal at the Brunswick Stewdio in 2016. He had a superior high school art teacher who started him on a lifetime journey of painting. Many of his paintings reflect a bold choice of color like his Skiffs series which strips down the image and looks at the subject(s) in close- up. He paints both objective and non-objective canvases working mostly in oils. Rob works out of his studio at the Brunswick Artery with ten other artists. Robert’s working career was in the oil and healthcare industries in financial management.
