About the Artist

Kelsey Anderson

United States

My painting practice is shaped by a global perspective and a deep belief in the healing power of art. After earning a B.A. in Fine Art with a minor in African Studies, I spent nearly a decade living and working abroad. During that time, I taught art to at-risk youth in Ghana, worked in international higher education in Australia, and became a mother. Alongside raising our two sons, my husband and I spent the past decade building one of Minnesota’s most trusted immigration law firms.

Throughout it all, I continued to paint and refine my practice. In 2024, I returned to art full time and joined the dynamic artist community at the Kickernick Building in Minneapolis. As a dual citizen of Australia and the U.S., I’m drawn to the beauty and complexity of wildlife, landscapes, oceans and Mars. These themes shape my work, which moves between abstraction and realism. Working with oils and acrylics, I use color, texture, and scale to stir emotion and memory.

Painting is both a personal outlet and a way to give back. I also teach art as a form of creative connection, where people can come together, create something beautiful, and feel a little lighter. I believe art holds the power to comfort, uplift, and bring us closer together.
