Inspired by sunny Autumn days, and a response to the landscape as the leaves were turning gorgeous pinks and yellows. I love layering colours and creating washes, using boards to move the paint around the canvas and drag the colours. I hope to bring a little sunshine to your hearts and homes.

Hello! I’m Paula. I live with my family in rural Hertfordshire, where I love finding inspiration on my daily walks in nature with my dogs! I take inspiration from the environment around me, like the way colour changes with the seasons or with the light through the day. My work blends together those physical landscapes with the emotional landscapes of energy and appreciation of nature, all merging together into paintings which I hope bring a little joy and happiness to your home! As an abstract artist, my paintings are achieved by boldly applying strong colours onto large canvases (the bigger the better!). Every piece is a process of discovery, using acrylics and other media to build layers, then scraping them back to add texture, build shapes and create glimpses of hidden colour. I wasn’t always a professional artist, but I have always painted and creativity is a massive part of my life. I started out studying art, photography, fashion and textiles. I went on to work in advertising and in the music industry for several years before refocusing my career in my late 20s to concentrate on creating art. I love being involved in the artistic scene in Hertfordshire, from being a former fellow of the Digswell Arts Trust to taking up residencies at the Brothership Studio and Courtyard Arts in Hertford.
