Michael was born in Liverpool in 1956 and started to draw and paint from an early age. He is predominately a self taught artist but did have a brief spell at art school, were he studied graphic design and illustration. He decided to drop out after two and a half years and moved to London and began working as a freelance Illustrator. Since moving back to Liverpool in 2002 he has concentrated on developing his painting. His main interests are landscape, whether urban or country and the depiction of the human figure. Artists he admires greatly are Sargent, Anders Zorn and Lucien Freud. He has taken part in a number of group exhibitions, both in London and Liverpool and his work is held in a number of private collections throughout the UK. Michael has twice taken part in Sky Arts, Landscape Artist of the Year, and made it to the final three in his heat which was filmed at Lyme Park Cheshire.
