This painting is inspired by the curious and fascinating looking shrimp. They mainly live on the sea or river bed so I have surrounded them with dark colours to give a feeling of them being immersed in the depths. It is painted with oil paint and a palette knife so the surface is very raised and tactile looking. It is a small painting and the vivid colours would brighten up a wall in any room

I am predominantly interested in the natural world and the structures and connections that are inherent within from a microscopic to a massive level. There is a lot of bright colour in my work and my main aim is to create a harmonious balance between the many colours and forms within the composition. Through my work I hope to inspire the awe that I feel about nature and its interconnectedness in others. I use a variety of 2D media and my style is semi-abstract or realistic and there is often a symbolic element involved.
