About The Artwork

This is an amazing watercolor in more than one way. The dramatic angle catches the eye, and the black paint come to life, reflecting everything around this cute little hotrod. You can almost feel the warmth of the sun on the rear tire contrasting the cool shaded areas, and is a well-balanced composition that keeps the eye of the viewer engaged and drawn in further. The amazing part is that I helped build and restore this 50's era hotrod that was brought to a custom car shop where I worked. I did much of the metalwork and became good friends with the owner, but after two years, the car was still only 99 percent finished. He became so frustrated at what was supposed to take much less time, he sold it, unfinished. I had just prior to that, moved on and started my own hotrod shop. Five years later, I saw this car at a custom car show, just parked on the grass. No signs, no owner, and no one around seemed to know anything about the car. I took several photos, from which I painted this watercolor. I framed it and took the painting back to this recurring show where our shop had a booth. I put the painting on a display easel with a sign asking for information. It did not take very long before I learned that a woman bought the car, paid in the six figure range and put another twenty grand in the car to finish it to her liking. Amazingly, her husband was one of my customers before his wife bought my friend, Denny's 32 Highboy.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My passion is painting. I draw and sketch daily but have a continuous fascination watching a face come alive as I paint, or paint believable reflections. I want my work to catch the viewer's eye and create an emotional connection. I was born in North Dakota and grew up in the Pacific Northwest, Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. I began drawing when I was about five years old. I can remember how fascinated I was with fingerpaints and how the colors blended as I smeared my hands through the greasy paints.
