ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The name came to me when I was looking into that center space, where the eye launches back into the area that actually has the least paint in it— there is a brightness that leads you in. It’s one of my mentor, Deborah Hay’s, prompts for dancing and perceiving: “What if the depth is on the surface?”

Caroline is interested in the emotional responses that happen when color, sound, and movement translate each other. Her paintings are rhythmic and lyrical, exuberant and contemplative. She enjoys collaborating with dancers, musicians, and filmmakers, always looking for new ways to communicate with immediacy and bring the viewer into the process. Her work conveys a sense of freedom, immediacy, and joy. Caroline received her MFA in Studio Art from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and her BA in Art and Art History from Brown University. She currently resides in her hometown of Austin, Texas, and spends about half the year traveling on art-related journeys.
