"Detached" Painting

This painting was inspired by my brother as he went travelling across the world. He had been away for a long time and because we are close, I couldn't shake this detached and dispondant feeling, despite also being happy for him. In this piece of work, I tried capturing the distance between us through depth and the use of negative space. I conveyed my emotions through a minimal, cold and tranquil colour pallette. When viewing this work I hope it creates a feeling space and gives an impression of distance through depth. Through this and the mininimal colour pallette used, I wish to convey a sence of serenity and peace. The feeling I felt knowing that he was happy.
