About The Artwork

This painting is inspired by the myth of Diana the Huntress and is set in a realistic landscape of a creek in Virginia. Catoctin Creek is a protected waterway that feeds into the Potomac River. The artist is a hunter, thus the slain deer in the distance. Shannon's work is well known for detailed realism and depictions of the human figure as well as a sense of mystery in regard to the underlying meaning of his work.
