ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The initial idea who was born from the artist's body experience appreciates various works of art in various This event is increasingly crystallized with the artist's spiritual experience of absorbing the Al-Baqarah chapter verse 216. In Widwar's "interpretation", one of the translations of the verse in the surah is said; "It could be that you hate something, even though it is very good to you, and could be you like something even though it is very bad for you ”, showing a spirit of balance positive and negative in various aspects of life. In Widwar's interpretation, the spirit of balance is not just a measure that is equivalent or just as heavy but more than that, balance for him is also justice and wisdom put everything in the right portion. The balance that Widwar raised too as if he wanted to invite us to be able to see various problems comprehensively without prejudice, is not quick to judge what we think is bad or vice versa. In the end, the idea of balance that offered by Widwar can be interpreted as implementation of a true appreciation attitude in our daily lives. Through a appropriation strategy, Widwar took small parts from one complete structure of the work of the artist that he reviews with the enlargement technique so that covering the whole object (close up). Widwar reviewed Van Gogh's work entitled “Vista De Paris Desde Montmarte ”and Mark Rothko's work entitled“ Dark over Light Earth / Violet and Yellow in Rose ”. Widwar adorned the impression of a fanfare of colors and objects in Van Gogh's work with the impression of a flat and minimalistic object in Rothko's work. Differences in the impression of the work the two artists are brought together and give rise to a new impression of balance and harmony.

Widi Wardani Purnama (b. 1998, Bandung). In his works, Widi usually raises a theme that carries an understanding of balance.
