ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I must admit that Basquiat definitely inspired my art. However, even tho I admire him, I can't let go of my love for drawing subjects more accurately. I remember the day vaguely, when painting this (one of my favorite paintings). I had seen a photo of a dolphin and loved it, this kind creature popping out of the ocean that is its home to say 'hi'. With a gentle smile. Living in the city of Houston, Texas; being poor I see a lot of decaying/ abandoned buildings. The streets are bumpy, and cracked. Homeless roam the streets, drug dealers are scattered here and there. People with loud music drive by, shacking the windows, turning heads. The heat of 90 degrees is normal, as humidity cloaks everyone. However, I still love this place it is my home. It feels dirty. After working my labor job, seeing the city as it is; I went home and kind of tried to emulate the vibe of this city with my art. The drips, the uncleanness (as I too paint in such manner). Using what little paint I had, you can tell with the lack of yellow I had, having to dilute it to cover more area of the paper canvas. Amongst this style, the background, the words, there lies a gentle dolphin smiling with a sense of kindness.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I'm Marcus Leonard a oil based painter. I like painting a variety of subjects, but usually paint: roses, animals, and women. I'm 34 years old, and have been painting for about 15 years. I was taught by a variety of art teachers all throughout my childhood. I always chose art classes in school, and majored in fine art when I went to Houston Community College. However, for the last about 9 years or so I've become more obsessed with painting. I paint like I need it to live. Luckily my mom has a restaurant where I show my art, and have been doing so for the last 7 years. However, things haven't quit worked for me selling art in person. So i'm trying out selling art online.
