His cultural-knowledge in his art practice is handed-down from his Elders. His paintings are evoked and deeply rooted in his culture and spirituality. The story and subject in his works, whether an animal or plant species, possess a spiritual essence, a soul, and they carry a message. His artworks are a transmission of cultural knowledge, spiritual guidance and Lyle's exploration of the Spirit of Place. Lyle's inspiration is sourced from his culture, spirit, family, and his relationship with land, sky, and sea. Lyle Ah Sam currently resides on Dharawal Country, Australia, with his wife and children.
