About The Artwork

From the series "Objects of Veneration." This is a painting of a hand carved miniature in our collection. Several years ago, while walking down our lane in Ashkelon, an old woman invited us in for coffee or tea and then gave us two carvings from her collection. She allowed us to choose. As to why this belongs to Objects of Veneration, in the heroic age, which Don Quixote wished to return to, some sought renown or veneration for their exploits instead of wealth. Thus, "Hail Knight of the Woeful Countenance."
