About The Artwork

This painting is insider art. The dragon represents a narcissist- whose sole aim is to lie, use and destroy. The half women ( empaths) are above the dragon and have unfortunately been in a relationship with the dragon. Although they are still alive, the Dragon has done their best to suck the life force energy from them. They are positioned above the dragon. These good hearted women will always be on a higher level than the narcissist. The red dot patterns represent the continual lies, gaslighting, con, grifting the dragon uses to lure incident people into their grasp. The dragon must continue to move. Although fierce and intimidating, the Dragon is actually just a balloon full of tiny pin prick holes. Looking for unsuspecting supply to give them life, the Dragon will always be in reality, a deflated shell. Yes the Dragon in the this painting is gorgeous. Narcissists are charming people who often are very attractive. My favorite saying about this situation is "When the Devil can't get to you, he sends a Narcissist." So True So True. Narcissists target the best and the brightest and then work quickly to abuse. The dragon could be male or female. The original look of this canvas was a very ugly painting found in West Philadelphia. The entire stretched canvas is handmade on heavy wood and is vintage- I would say the canvas is from the 1970s. I gessoed the canvas multiple times before painting it with acrylic paint . The canvas is quite heavy for it's size due to the wood. these days I most paint on re-purposed stretch canvas.

Born USA. I started making art at the age of 21. I was admitted on the spot to the San Francisco Art Institute upon showing the Dean of Admissions my portfolio of Thurberesque Drawings with funny captions. Much of my artistic inspiration from my flea market finds ( vintage & rare ephemera), my huge unusual vintage, children's book collection, dance & burlesque performances, icons, symbols and images from all kinds of religions and my exploration into personal relationships. Although I have a distinctive style, I have explored many mediums- collage, painting, drawing, print making & fabric design, digital art. Some of my work is pretty and decorative but I also create ugly & raw paintings. These self therapy paintings are meant to be ugly and humourous . Kitsch, fashion, phtography, film, Children's art, German expressionism, Matisse, Dufy, Nolde, Redon as well as unknown outsider & folk+ art brut artists are have contributed to my style. My new website May 2022 www.katiepfeiffer.gallery As of February 2013, I have published my first children's ebook LULU LOOKS FOR LOVE which is available on Amazon. Old Website - www.katiepfeiffer.com 2019 Two month art residency in the Berkshires, MA and created a series of 30 paintings and drawings.
