ABOUT THE ARTWORK
An abstract landscape painting in a contemporary style. A long walk on an autumnal, overcast morning was the inspiration for this artwork, which is stripped back to the bare bones of the landscape. The smooth stretch of green in the foreground, is contrasted by the gestural brush strokes of the overcast sky (if the painting is lit from above, these show quite dramatically, and move as you walk past the painting), capturing the tension of the building clouds and portraying the movement of a windy autumnal morning. This piece was created using Michael Harding Professional Artists oil colours on a gesso primed, mounted wooden board. The edges are painted white (please see additional photograph), and it is ready to hang. It is signed and dated on the back and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Lizzie Butler is an expressive, semi abstract artist, who works in a contemporary style in oil. Her strong spatial awareness and a passion for working en plein air, inform her practice and lead to paintings that recreate the intangible atmosphere found in landscapes and the peaceful silence of nature. Most of her paintings are begun outside and completed in her London studio.
