About the Artist

Rob Gardiner

Australia

Rob is a practicing artist of 30 years, working in several disciplines at once as projects evolve and commissions are developed. Studying at the School of Mines and Latrobe University his real first break came in 2000 with an exhibition at Melbourne’s ROAR Gallery in Fitzroy.

Early works focused on painting surreal imagery and conceptual creatures living in fantastical landscapes in an surrealistic style. Now he creates photorealistic and insanely detailed colour pencil drawings that can take up to 150 hours to complete.

As a multi-disciplined Artist and Graphic Designer he has embraced the digital mediums of the modern era as a tool to create new and amazing visuals that were unimaginable only 10 short years ago. Themes in his current works embrace popular culture touch points common to us all expressed as Helium Balloons, a fun a playful way to reimagine the icons of society.

A traditionally trained Artist with an appreciation of the digital world - today he works as a Senior Finished Artist for a boutique Graphic Design agency by day and toils away on his forever passion of Drawing and Oil Painting (and bronze sculpture when he can afford it) by night.

Since the late 1990’s he has been selling Paintings and Collage Artworks to a select clientele of collectors in Melbourne and regional Australia.
