Jana Millstone’s dream-like imagery propels you into worlds that are sometimes funny, sometimes disquieting or calming, but always thought provoking. Though stylistically different, all her work shares origins in a deeply meditative practice. She believes art-making is a weird mix of play, alchemy, terror, and transcendence. The daughter of artist Max Glick, who died before she was old enough to know him, Jana grew up in a home surrounded by beautiful watercolor art and a feeling of destiny to continue that legacy. She can’t remember a time when she not making things: drawings, paintings, clothing, jewelry, even furniture; designing her own house and doing construction on numerous others. Intrigued by the technology behind the creation of things she exploits it as a way to bring something new to the creative process. Her professional experience gave her invaluable exposure to multiple technologies and processes. With a career designing for prestigious fashion, jewelry and home furnishing companies, she ultimately served as Director of Design Concept at Lenox China.
