About The Artwork

South Texas has historically been the recipient host of people emigrating from other countries to try for a chance to have the fine lives that most Americans are able to live. The situation in some countries is so desperate that parents are willing to give their small children to smugglers to drop over the border wall just for the slight chance that they might be found before they perish and given to a family who can offer them a chance at life that they could never see in their current circumstances. At the rate at which immigrants would like to come here, the U.S. would soon be so over-run that there may not be a good life left for anyone, but how bad must the circumstances be where they come from that they are willing to risk their children's lives and know that they will probably never see them again.
