About The Artwork

Drosera is a carnivorous plant that is considered endangered in many places due to habitat loss (drainage, peat cutting). Its small, low growth and relatively inconspicuous appearance also mean that it is easily overlooked. I was keen to show this often hard-to-recognise plant in its actual beauty. In order to draw attention to the initially inconspicuous plant, the Drosera was painted in oversized form and with the body of a woman, from which the glandular tentacles grow. In addition to the plant, the painting also shows the nature-human relationship, which forms a unity through the fusion of man and plant.

I am born in Neuenbürg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. From an early age, I loved painting and drawing as a means to represent my own fantasies, desires, and dreams. I decided against the initially plan to study art because its contents did not meet my expectations and instead opted for a science degree. However, my passion for art was always present. I taught myself by training through books, museums visits, exchanges with other artists, and personal experience. The content of my images is determined by the artist’s fantasies, perceptions, life, and love for animals and nature. For me, visual arts means an expression that starts where words are not enough and the camera can’t see anything. I want to make this visible through a realistic manner of painting. My genre is surrealism and fantastic realism and preferred media are oil paints and graphite. Artists who inspired me: Salvador Dali, Remedios Varo, Leonora Carrington and others. Award: Grand Salon 2017 / Villa Berberich- 1st prize in the category Surrealism- Bad Säckingen, Germany
