About The Artwork

The idea started off a research paper I did college about the male nude. Majority of paintings seen depicting female nudes always had her looking at the viewer, who was assumed to be male. Her sexuality belonged to him. Rarely do male nudes are connotated with sexuality. While the satyr may not be looking at his viewer, who assumed to be female, his body is opened and sensual to her despite his drunken haze. Satyrs are often depicted as sexual beings in Greek culture. In a way, they can be seen as some sort of incubus critter. By playing on their fondness for alcohol and sexual desire, I hoped this painting can create a more sensual, eros-induced erotica.

I'm a painter from Detroit. My concentration lies in narrative and figurative painting. I'm more concentrated in the male figure, but I'm not opposed to the female figure. My paintings are inspired by my heroes, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, a master classical painter, Peter Paul Rubens, a Baroque master painter, and Donato Giancola, an amazing illustrator and painter. I inspired to convey stories and morals to my audience through my allegorical paintings. My goal is to have viewers see the beauty and grace of the male figure and masculine energies as a virtue instead of a sin. Hopefully I will achieve mastery over the male figure in the next five years so it can be depicted in different scenarios, atmospheres, and ideas. My purpose is to further the passion of the figure and create paintings that are personal, expressive, beautiful, and skillful. By creating such paintings, I hoped to represent the order, beauty, and harmony of the male figure. I want to influence the future generations of men that they shouldn’t be ashamed of being male and shouldn’t curb themselves just for women’s approval. With my skills, I hope to paint myself as a hard worker and bohemian. I want to be known for painting the aesthetics and grandeur of the masculine.
