ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This painting is the fourth in the 'Dune' series. It is a snapshot of the sand when you are sitting and running your fingers through it. I love inspecting micro environments at the beach, nestling in a cosy spot on the sand dune at Gunnamatta Beach (Mornington Peninsula) for instance and checking out all the small interesting things that exist in that small space. The weather and the tides dictating the ever changing scene. Gallery quality premium (made to order) stretched canvas on a wooden stretcher, painted around the edges to compliment the artwork. The artwork is not framed. All my artworks are sealed and varnished with high quality semi gloss or satin varnish which protects the paint and vibrancy of the colours. Every care is taken to securely package the painting. It will be signed on the front and back and will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

I am a painter, using acrylic paints on stretched canvas. I paint with immediacy and fluidity allowing the emotions and memories to pour on to the canvas. I do not work from photographs or a master plan. The past ten years of painting has been a lot of passionate hard work combined with a powerful need to express what is important. The natural environment is what is important to me and that is reflected in nearly all of my work. I paint landscapes as hardy, practical places that provide healthy habitats for flora and fauna, not as a pleasant view for humans. My view is that the natural environment does not exist for exploitation on any level. I have a direct and immediate response to the destruction of the natural environment in the name of ‘progress’ and 'the economy'. I love what I do!
