About The Artwork

The air was still and hot as we drifted near the mouth of the tidewater inlet where we had hoped to find safe haven from the pirates. But there was no wind. Damn! There was no wind at all. The sails hung limp and the merchant vessel "King Manor" just bobbed on the water. Like a goddamned duck on the goddamned water! There's no doubt she was overloaded with too much cargo, most of it from rich families in the Northeast moving to Florida. The rest of the hold was filled with ammunition and explosives to be sold to a French mercenary in Port Salerno. Hopefully that information was still very much a secret. Especially from the pirates. They were everywhere up and down the coast, and some would steal everything you had, kill everyone, and burn your boat. Some might just rob you. Best case scenario was you got attacked by privateers instead of pirates. They were strictly after money, gold, and other valuables. But the ammunition? That might be something privateers would know about from spies in the north. We were sitting ducks...

After a 30 year career in advertising and sales leadership I escaped the corporate media world a few years ago and can now focus on creating my own work. In other words, I'm an outsider artist that has decades of ideas pouring out. My intent is primarily to create pieces of art that are highly visual and interesting to enjoy and study... but may often express ideas, ask questions, unearth feelings, debate opinions, or sometimes be provocative. Like many paintings though, they're often just a combination of lines, shapes, colors, textures, and space. That said; I hope my work presents a UNIQUE combination of art elements to you and that you like what you see. Better yet, I hope you believe some of my pieces should be included in your collection. I've traveled the world but have always lived in the Philadelphia area. While I have no formal training as an artist, I've been a photographer and I've been around the art community my whole life. My wife Suzanne works as a Docent for the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, and together we've raised three wonderful sons that are all now making their own way in the world. We have a home and our studio in Chester County PA with our Bernese Mountain Dog; Mr Charlie.
