About The Artwork

This painting has a very special place in my collection and my heart. I knew nothing about Texas Longhorn cattle and their stunning colours before meeting the Longhorns of Ross Ranch. This is probably the most detailed of my paintings with tiny brushstrokes and a multitude of colours. Lilacs, blues, tans and greens are just some of the surprise colours this artwork hides. The painting is 70cm x 70cm making it one of the biggest to leave my studio and in it's true size you can really appreciate the presence of this protective cow and all the hours that went into it. This artwork has a very contemporary composition making it a great addition to a modern home. I paint using acrylic on canvas. But what I really love is the sentiment this piece has. The connection between Dusty and her calf radiates from this painting and when paired with sister painting Like Father Like Son, they capture the importance of family beautifully. The painting is framed as seen in the picture and ships in a bespoke built crate.

Specialising in vibrant artwork of Cows, Lauren paints from her studio in the heart of York, UK taking inspiration from the surrounding Yorkshire & Cumbrian countryside. Lauren grew tired of London city life and needed a window to her country childhood. What better view than a curious cow peering in on her kitchen table? It was when framing this one-off painting that her career path took a serious change! The framer in North Yorkshire was so taken by the characterful cow, that he offered to host an exhibition for Lauren if she agreed to paint more of her beautiful beasts! The response and enthusiasm that this debut exhibition generated gave Lauren the confidence to launch her art career.
