Constantly inspired by London's multicultural reality, and by Zygmunt Bauman's theories, I started a series about Liquid Modernity. I soon realized that my shifting and never-fixed multicultural identity is always showing up in the compositions, especially in the choices of mixed mediums, creating playful and often chaotic fields of colors that mix and merge as all the cultural influences from diverse countries I have been exposed to. Adding different layers with oil sticks, pastels, and charcoal, all these marks and signs find a way to communicate and overlap, like floating stains on our psyche, each one with its own right to remain different, dwelling together in a forever diverse set of human cohabitation.

Born in Modena, Italy Lives & works in London, UK Beatrice Dina's work explores themes of cross-cultural identity, migration, spirituality, and the fragility of human existence. Her vivid paintings merge at times lyrical abstraction with subtle representation, as the intent of her color-charged canvases is to connect with our deepest emotions and fears. Dina began her career in advertising as an art director, moving then to film production. Her diverse body of work includes documentary films, drawings, paintings, and sculptures. “I've always been attracted to the inner landscapes of human beings. When I paint, I work intuitively, not towards a narrative, like in filmmaking, but towards contemplation. I'm interested in the transcendental, the impermanence and transformation of all things; suffering and growth, human conflict, love and loss, and above all how we can arrive from the material to the immaterial.”
