PASCAL FOUCART and Saturated Minimalism If one had do define the key-word of Pascal Foucart’s work, it would be « Vibrations ». It is through these colored vibrations that he succeeds in generating rhythms figuring the decompostion of light. That I call Saturated Minimalism. There are 15 to 20 different shades in every work, applied according to the same chronology. They cover the whole surface of the canvas Or they come off it radically on a black « dripped » background. The succession of lines, curves and marks repeated all along the canvas follow the same basic gesture : brushing, treating, dabbing, scraping, whipping…So many treatments that make the eye waver in a colorful thrill. Pascal Foucart says that these vibrations are cosmogonic. They are linked to his all-consuming passion for the sky and the stars, « where we come from ». His art is profoundly marked by the immortal flickers of the cosmos, the burst of the past and the gulps of the future. Just like Serge Gainsbourg « Gainsbarre », Pascal Foucart has formulated a popular derivative of his art. He calls it Fook’Art. Wether he paints clothes directly on the model or he throws his colorful claw on everyday objects and furniture, he illuminates the common with its vibratory principle. Next to his traditional canvases, Pascal Foucart presents an installation entitled Notre pain quotidien. It is a collection of Parisian baguettes in saturated colors. Each of the sticks materializes in a line a day and its irreductible "life expectancy".
