Rising early to catch the new sun and the astounding color display as light streams through mist and fog and the land below still in shadows. A pathway leads to beyond. There is a 1 inch border all around. The paper is BFK Rives white with four deckle edges and faint but visible pin holes at the corners of the white border.

I am a contemporary artist working with acrylic and mixed media to create semi-abstract paintings of landscapes real or imagined. Painting is my primary connection and exploration of the outside world. Interior landscapes are made visible; a balancing of shape and line, color and texture, light and atmosphere. I work in my studio, on my own. I do not do plein air. I do take photographs and forget to look at them. I may look at small sketches scribbled on bits of paper. I try to paint intuitively and without preconception. The Canadian Prairie landscape of my childhood asserts itself in the iconic shapes and layered surfaces of many of my paintings. My present home in south west England offers new vistas of rolling hills and a sky in perpetual motion.
