ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My work on paper is experimental mixed media using collage materials from previous paintings, acrylic paint, graphite, charcoal, pastels and other drawing materials. These small pieces evolve as I respond intuitively to each previous layer and mark. They are often worked in groups, which allows me to move quickly from one to another with a loose spontaneous approach, keeping them fresh and expressive. This work is sold matted and ready to frame. The artwork measures 13"x13" with total dimensions of 20"x20".

I was born in Canada in 1953 and currently work in my home studio in Vancouver BC. I began my working life in medicine but had always been drawn to a career in visual arts. In 1993, I started learning and working as an artist full-time. I have a deep desire to paint non-objectively, allowing colour and mark-making to emanate from somewhere inside my body other than my conscious self. This intuitive practice often seems careless and haphazard, but is actually passionate and engaging.
