About The Artwork
I'm working in cold wax and oil paints. I've done several paintings of women in red gowns over the last 15 years. I love the powerful color of red. It symbolizes sacrifice, love, romance, boldness, and sexuality. I'm often inspired by romance and vintage costumes. I remember when I was 10, I made a fashion timeline for a major project in my class. Even then, I loved both drawing and fashion. It came natural to paint fashions and women. In this piece she is deep in thought about what has been and what might be. I'm using cold wax medium to add layers of interest and give it an ethereal feel. The background was inspired by a master painting.
