Inspired by the enveloping darkness found during the rare occurrence of an Eclipse, this painting delves into the beauty of Arabic calligraphy in a way that highlights the delicate structure of each Arabic letter. The letters here are known as Huroof-e-Muqatta’at (the disconnected or broken letters). The are a combination of letters found at the beginning of 29 surahs in the Qur’aan. Numerous books have been written on the meaning of these words. The only absolute truth is that Allah S.W.T has kept the meaning hidden. However, many learned scholars are of the opinion that the wisdom behind the words was a challenge from Allah S.W.T to the Quraish, that the Qur’aan was revealed using their own letters and words, yet they would never be able to combine those letters to produce anything of its sort. May Allah S.W.T allow us to gain from the benefits of reciting the Qur’aan. Please NOTE: Due to the size of this canvas it will be shipped in a crate within the continental US via UPS Ground shipping. Buyers outside of the Continental U.S will receive this painting rolled carefully in protective , non carbon paper and shipped in a tube, with the wooden canvas bases removed and securely shipped for easy re-stretching of the canvas. ___________________ To View more about the Kitab Series go to www.mariamrajput.com Price is inclusive of Saatchi art commission.
