Original acrylic and ink painting ‘Edinburgh Castle’ on paper, 39 x 29 cm finished with a white mount and a black 60 x 50 cm frame. I wanted to capture some of the city rooftops leading up to the Castle Rock, but I also wanted to capture the changing light as stormy clouds cross the sky. Edinburgh was one of my favourite places to visit whilst we lived in Newcastle, as it was only a couple of hours travel further north… but there’s so much to see, i’d love to return with sketchbook and camera soon. Many of my artworks are created as private commissions. If you’d like to discuss ideas for an original piece of art please contact the studio. Edinburgh Castle is No. 3 of my 2018 world series challenge. You can follow along with my world series on my studio blog, facebook, twitter or instagram.

Jonathan is a professional artist and illustrator working with big colours and lots of detail. "I find new compositions through travelling and exploring, visiting popular places around the UK, Europe and beyond. I try to bring a fresh perspective and a bold palette of colour to the landmarks you already know... and perhaps introduce you to a few to new locations along the way."
