This work that I have called Education also represents my interest in this subject, since I am also a teacher and I see traditional teaching far exceeded. I tried to reflect the weariness that encourages sitting 8 hours in class. It is a form of disagreement and complaint showing a boy with a lost and introspective look. I am interested in creating atmospheres, sensations through color, shapes and drawing. I try to reduce the painting to its purest, almost minimalist, expressive essence, leaving aside the details to focus on the essentials.

The technique is oil on canvas.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This work that I have called Education also represents my interest in this subject, since I am also a teacher and I see traditional teaching far exceeded. I tried to reflect the weariness that encourages sitting 8 hours in class. It is a form of disagreement and complaint showing a boy with a lost and introspective look. I am interested in creating atmospheres, sensations through color, shapes and drawing. I try to reduce the painting to its purest, almost minimalist, expressive essence, leaving aside the details to focus on the essentials. The technique is oil on canvas.

While I was putting on an exhibition, it occurred to me to place a bench in the center of the room so that the visitors could sit and contemplate the "Gardens ...". A woman (who is now a friend) sat down. After she was sitting for a long time contemplating one of the paintings, I approached her. "There's something that surprises me," she told me. "On the one hand I see a very balanced work, in the composition, the color, and on the other hand, something that breaks the rules, that wants to escape from that balance". I think nobody has ever described my painting so well, that it is nothing more than a reflection of my person. Balance is fundamental and necessary in my life. At the time of painting, perhaps the most difficult part for me is the choice of motive, it can’t be just anything, it must be a visceral reaction. Once the motive has been chosen, I select what I want to reflect. The next step is a study of the composition of the painting to achieve a balance but avoid symmetry. A few lines to place the drawing (more than a few lines if it is a figure) and from this moment, begins that less balanced part of my personality, that need to break the rules and be carried away by the brush, by color, by light. I have always loved the Expressionists, the study of the light of Monet, the brushstroke of Cezanne, the Matisse line ....I continue to enjoy Sorolla's work every so often, its light, its colors, the security and simplicity of its brushstroke.
