Being an Artist is not about who likes you, who likes your Art, or how much people are buying it for. Being an Artist is retaining that sense of observation we all have as children through life, commenting on things with your perspective, and having the strength to realize the unimaginable. It takes good sense of self, a will to create and work on your Art, developing your skills and concepts, and ingenuity. It takes a strong person to be an Artist. The Artistic process can stir up suppressed emotions and ideas in ones self. It can also be a blissful experience. Being an Artist is about making Art. Qualities of an Artist that make his work sell are subjective opinions of other people, maybe about the person, maybe about the Art. All of those factors are outside of the Artistic process. So an Artist must consider his purpose for making Art. Is it for personal satisfaction or for popularity? Personally, I want to make work of my honest process, but I also want it to be popular. I think that should be the path to a successful Art career. I think we all want the Art market to function properly, so I’m going to try it. My recent drawings are experimental mediations as I process this current life situation I am in and try various mediums. Drawing is a great way for me to design larger paintings. I expect my larger work will change with what I am learning with my drawings. I am working on a small scale with a limited budget. However I’ve invested in about thirty paintings so far this year. I hope I will make some sales as to afford me new supplies. I have some drawings that I think would be really cool to do as large paintings.
