About The Artwork
This is a reproduction of the famous Empress Theodora mosaic at the Basilica San Vitale in Ravenna, Italy. My client had a mosaic of Emperor Justinian and requested that I create a mosaic of his companion. She is made out of Italian smalti, 24 carat gold smalti, and marble and created using the double reverse (Ravenna) method.
