'Enclosure' is inspired by an archive photograph of a polar bear enclosure in Dudley Zoo, England. The structure was designed by the Tektron group, led by renowned architect Berthold Lubetkin. I wanted the image to depict the cool clean lines of the modernist design contrasted with the cruel nature of its purpose. This painting is the first of a new series of works that depict psychologically challenging architecture and interiors.
