'Autumn Moon Enso', Zen Enso Brushed In Black Sumi
Zen Enso circle brushed in the flying white style with a spirited interaction between a full and empty brush stroke. The Enso stands for non-duality, Oneness, fullness, perfection, our Awakened nature, the Buddha nature.
I brushed this Zen Enso inspired by a poem of the Zen T'ang poet Han-shan, alias Cold Mountain.
The first two lines of this poem say:
My mind is like the autumn moon
clear and bright in a pool of jade ….
(Translation by Red Pine, in his book The Collected Songs of Cold Mountain)
The original Enso circle is not framed, to use the Oriental technical term, it is not mounted yet. I don't know if you are familiar with rice paper, but when you brush on it, it absorbs the ink and it wrinkles. Therefore the artwork needs to be mounted, which means it is stretched and flattened to take the wrinkles away.
For more information about mounting this Enso calligraphy please visit my website, at https://www.theartofcalligraphy.com/zen-art, where I recommend you a mounter in California, US. Please be aware that I cannot take any responsibility for the mounting.
Original size of the Enso calligraphy in cm: 93 x 70.5 cm.
The artwork will be shipped rolled in a tube.
