About The Artwork

The painting represents an abstract human face, which undergoes an esotropic disintegration of being, as if it were slowly dissolving before your eyes. Made with plaster and acrylic on wood, the painting has depth and texture. While scratches and the shades of gray and blue give the painting a feeling of movement, as if the face is floating in space. The face itself has no precise contours or defined lines. Instead, it appears to be made up of thin layers that overlap on top of each other, creating a blurring effect. It is not possible to tell whether it is a male or female face, young or old. It is as if it were an entity that is losing its human form. But it is not only the shape of the face that seems to dissolve, but also its being. The esotropic disintegration of being that is taking place indicates that the face is losing its identity and its very existence. It is process of decomposition, in which life is slowly dissolved and disintegrated. Ultimately in this painting, the form and its existence are in transition, while the human face and its identity are in the process of dissolution, a complex and subtle process of trasformation.
