For most people seven deadly sins mean nothing but words. Those sins are found so often and we are so accustomed to them, that they are treated as sins no longer. Gluttons get called gourmets, fornicators talk about freedom of love, covetous people demand respect saying their wealth has been amassed through their hard work. Those obsessed with anger claim themselves fighters for justice. The dull have a reputation for serious and responsible persons, and the pride is considered as dignity.
Total seven deadly sins are Anger (Ira), Lust (Luxuria), Gluttony (Gula), Envy (Invidia), Sadness (Acedia), Pride (Superbia) and Greed (Avaritia).
Despite the fact that sin is first of all notion of church, the author of the exhibition does not associate her works with the teachings of religion or the scriptures. The "7 Sins" exhibition is the first and foremost an attempt to draw the audience's attention on what has become the everyday norm and make us reflect on the choices we make every day. After all, our world is designed so that we constantly make choices between good and evil, between purity and sin. As Dostoevsky wrote, the struggle in the human heart is permanent.
Yes, “Seven Sins” by Alla Dzevaltovska look attractive, somehow even sexy. But don’t sins attract us as well?
