As an abstract painter, who spent nearly a decade as a professional illustrator with a NYC agent, landing such notable clients a Hallmark, Hasbro, Playskool, Parents Magazine, and even American Baby Magazine of Brazil, I was always painting behind the scenes for me—largely for personal and emotional release. Abstract and large-scale painting has always been where it’s at for me. As an abstract artist, I paint experientially (each painting being a live view of my experiences as they were occurring), I paint in flow, and I paint in symbolism. Everything means something in my art work. Colors and shapes represent people or emotions or even personal modes of operation (ie. operating from ego vs. the heart), depending on the painting. In my most recent series, “Hidden in Plain Sight,” I explore themes such as psychological abuse (a theme I have interest in raising awareness of), getting free, starting over, and the hope of a new future. My work routinely comes back to hope, as I believe in the profound power of ongoing personal growth, mental health, and spiritual fortitude for creating a better future for ourselves and raising the consciousness of the world at large.
