I was born in Somerset, England. I have painted since I was around 10 years old. I had small class lessons from Anne Hoenig on Ibiza for several years, and attended Central Saint Martins London for a course in Abstract Expressionism led by Ewa Gargulinska. I have lived on the island of Ibiza for the past 20 years. I never stop marvelling at the miracle of existence, not just us living creatures, but the universe itself. All matter. I believe art can show something of what cannot be understood intellectually. That it can be a connection to the mystery of the universe. Science has gone a long way to understanding how things are - particularly quantum physics, but the more that is discovered, the more mysterious it turns out to be. I believe art can be a bridge to understanding something of these mysteries at an emotional level. I would say that my figurative work is mostly left brain (the logical, critical part of the brain), whereas, I deliberately try to access my sub-conscious (right brain) in my abstracts. When I produce an abstract, I don’t have a plan. I have no idea what will happen. I don’t even choose a colour palette. The paintings emerge from fairly frenetic activity on my part.
