Born England 1959, lives and practices in East Anglia. Currently active with sculpture and installations, but also painting, drawing, and writing. The material characteristics are central to form and content, as process invites responses, as a 'dialogue' between artist and media throughout the making. Concepts explore our phenomenolgical experience of 'being' in the world, how we interact with environments, objects, and time. The impact of consumerism as a specific social and material phenomenon is often 'in the mix' and leaning towards Constructivism. Studio practice is integral and essential to informing the work, with value given to experimenting at the workbench. 'Found' materials, the discarded 'collateral' of society, are often the dots that will be joined, that can result in an evocation of post-industrial wilderness. A fascination with natural processes of decay, set against mankind's' persistent attempts to 'better' them, and endure through manufacturing engineered constructs and relentless hard labours, sets the central dynamic that pervades this work.
