About The Artwork

“Hope springs eternal in the human breast.” Alexander Pope “No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn.” Hal Borland It is with similar sentiments that I painted “Eternal Spring.” Though the branches of the tree are bare, the clouds are in the distance and the grass has sprouted afresh as it does every year after the dormancy of winter. We too are often laid bare, having personally endured the inevitable loss and hardships of life. Often it is the strife of the world around us that leaves us feeling raw. Sometimes it is both. Yet I believe it is our duty to remain conscious of the fact that just as the spring follows the winter, so too will difficult times pass. Life ever renews itself. It requires patience and inner strength, yet it is wise to remember that both the good times and bad are temporary. They are a part of the normal rhythm of life. Keep in mind that “This too shall pass.” In doing so, hardships are easier to endure. We are then better equipped to support others in need, in whatever way we are capable. A little compassion goes a very long way.

Margaret Biggs is a painter whose use of line, color and form communicates the healing and strength she finds in nature. Born in the Gulf South, her art is influenced by natural beauty. An early career allowed her to live in Europe and New York, where she became familiar with the Western artistic canon. Margaret later studied under renowned artist Kerry James Marshall. She is influenced by mid-20th-century Realism and Expressionism. Margaret found solace in nature to deal with life’s travails. She artistically converts her experiences to inspire others in their search for inner peace.
