ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Asian Miniature art inspired me to paint my own series of tiny miniatures with the bible and especially Adam and Eve in erotic poses in the Garden of Eden. Instead of the serpent tempting Eve to eat the apple and so tempt Adam into eating it, in my artwork the snake is part of Adam's body so in fact, it is not Eve who is at fault here. This is a watercolour was painted on Ivorine, a modern synthetic alternative to natural Ivory. The size of the miniature is 7.8 cm (h) x 5.8 cm (w) and is unframed as reflected in the price of the work of art.

I am Anita Salemink, a writer and visual artist, and I was born in a village named Groessen near Arnhem in The Netherlands. I studied at ArtEz, University of the Arts | Arnhem, Enschede and Zwolle, and have participated in numerous exhibitions — see my exhibitions tab for details. Many private collections in Europe and the USA include my work. In my work, I try to find answers to life’s questions. The human form inspires me — the beauty and structure of the body, nature and organic matter — leaves and branches. I make watercolours and drawings mostly on paper. Sometimes I combine paint and graphite. I like working with medical skeletons, dead insects, found objects, pressed flowers, and nude models. I make illustrations for commissions under the name of Tabuki.
