Paula Mcgurdy
Ireland
Paula McGurdy is a Dublin based artist who creates expressive, process-based abstract mixed media drawings. She received her BA in Fine Art Drawing at Camberwell College of Art, UAL, London, where she lived and worked for several years. Her current work involves layered, gestural abstract painting with a focus on movement, colour and form. Having returned to Ireland a couple of years ago after living in London for 10 years, there was quite a substantial shift in her work, in terms of use of colour and paint. This latest series of work has been quite a cathartic process and is a reflection on the change of landscape, a sense of wandering, transience and belonging.
