Series of paintings: Re-interpretations

Awarded BPSC Prize - Ignacy Miedziński’s, the head of BPSC’s Prize for the best Diploma of Painting

Reality manifested in the form of various records is never identical, equal and understandable; it becomes impossible to find its overall meaning or the hidden truth. It appears as a series of consecutive traces which refer to the next ones – and so on indefinitely – each event is a silent multitude of other events. The interpretation of the recording of reality is exclusively multiple, and never one and true.
“Re-interpretations” are an attempt to re-constitute my own memories by juxtaposing elements of many events (recorded in photographs) on one plane. By situating these fragments in a new “environment,” I am creating a pretext for the evolution of meanings. In this way, time ceases to be linear, its order is disturbed and events are de-contextualised. As a result of the series of events, a completely new, separate (readable in a variety of ways) story is created. Because each event is reflected in the next one, it builds together with others a constantly growing weave. Seemingly unrelated characters, spaces (burdened by their separate belonging to a specific situation or date) suddenly begin to form a coherent whole together, as if there had always been a close relationship between them.
